Sept. 4, 2025 – Winnipeg, MB – Football fans will have one more chance to celebrate after the Banjo Bowl this year—with a Roughrider twist. At 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, Underdogs restaurant (2609 Portage Avenue) will host the Banjo Bowl Car Smash where fans can take a swing at a Saskatchewan Roughrider–themed car, donated by River City Ford, all in support of KidSport Manitoba.
This unique fundraiser gives fans the opportunity to channel their team spirit into a good cause. For just a small donation, participants can grab a sledgehammer and help smash the green-and-white ride, knowing every swing helps more kids in Manitoba participate in organized sport.
All proceeds will go directly to KidSport Manitoba to help cover registration fees for kids in need, ensuring no child is left on the sidelines.
Quotes
“Supporting our community has always been at the heart of what we do at River City Ford. Manitoba, and especially our neighbours in St. James, Charleswood, and Headingley, have given us so much over the past 15 years. Giving back, especially through sport, is our way of helping build opportunities for the next generation. Sports teach teamwork, resilience, and confidence, and we’re proud to play a part in making sure every kid gets the chance to experience that.” — Kyle Forcier, General Manager, River City Ford
“We’re excited to smash the Roughriders on and off the field, for a great cause! Giving back to our community has been core to Underdogs ever since starting up in Winnipeg nine years ago. We love our partnership with KidSport and look forward to helping bring more awareness to the organization, and get even more kids into sport.” — Benjamin Nasberg, Partner, Underdogs
“Right now, the need for KidSport funding is at its highest. Between September and October, we see the biggest surge in applications as kids sign up for school, club, and winter sports. Without the support of businesses like Underdogs and River City Ford, we simply wouldn’t be able to meet the demand. Events like the Car Smash are crucial—not only do they help us raise the money needed, but they also give us the chance to show the public the real impact their support has on kids’ lives.” — Dustin Ehr, Program Coordinator, KidSport Manitoba
