A Silver Medal to Kick Off the Season

Montréal, March 17, 2025 – Éloïse Bélanger got her 2025 season off to a strong start this weekend, capturing a silver medal in the 10m platform event at International Divers’ Day in Rostock, Germany.

In the semi-finals, the athlete, who trains with the CAMO Club, finished second in her heat and qualified for the finals, where she brought her total score to 279.65, good for the second spot on the podium.

“I’m happy with several aspects of this competition. I feel like I improved, particularly from a technical standpoint, between the qualifiers and the finals. Overall, it was a great week, and I feel confident as we head into the international season,” said Bélanger.

Pauline Pfeif of Germany was the only diver to outperform Bélanger, securing the gold medal with 300.90 points. Neutral Athlete Anna Konanykhina (266.45) completed the podium.

Renée Batalla and Julianne Boisvert also competed in the platform event. Batalla made it to the semi-finals, where she finished fourth, thus missing the cut for the finals. Boisvert did not advance past the qualification rounds, where she finished thirteenth.

However, Boisvert (L’Envol) and Batalla (Boardworks Academy) teamed up for the synchronized platform event in Germany, where they won the bronze medal with 240.33 points. Neutral Athletes Anna Konanykhina and Aleksandra Kedrina claimed gold in that event with 286.62 points. Sofiia Vystavkina and Sofia Esman of Ukraine (261.30) finished second.

“I can say that this is one more experience on the senior international circuit that will enable me to get to know myself better as an athlete and know what works best for me in competition,” said Boisvert.

International Divers’ Day marked a return to competition for Sonya Palkhivala, who had been sidelined with a knee injury for several months.

The member of the Pointe-Claire Diving Club reached the 3m springboard semi-finals, where she finished fourth in her heat with 269.50 points. She had earlier placed third in the qualifiers.

“I’m so happy to be back! I look forward to building on this result, and I can’t wait until the next competition. My recovery and rehabilitation were very challenging, and I had to completely rebuild my list of dives, but now I’m back for good,” said Palkhivala.

On the men’s side, Victor Povzner (Optimal) and Emmitt Reesor (Toronto Diving Academy) advanced to the semi-finals of the 3m springboard event, where they finished fourth and fifth in their heat.

Tazman Abramowicz (Dive Calgary) and Cédric Fofana (CAMO) were halted in the qualifiers, where they finished 27th and 30th.

In the men’s synchronized 3m event, Povzner and Abramowicz competed together, finishing fifth with 340.14 points. Neutral Athletes Evgeny Kuznetsov and Nikita Shleikhner won the gold medal.
