Planning to use your smartphone as a distraction device while on the treadmill this winter? You may want to reconsider. Research has found that texting or talking on your smartphone during treadmill walking reduced exercise intensity, and had a negative effect on balance. However, only listening to music increased the intensity, and had no effect on balance.
