Rewards are used for a multitude of tasks, like giving kids stickers for a job well done, or rewarding yourself for getting through a workout. Can rewards backfire, though? Called the “overjustification effect”, sometimes a reward can lead us to believe that the task isn’t worth doing for itself. Are rewards overused and should we be using them at all?
