Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sprains and tears are one of the most common knee injuries. The relatively long rehabilitation process can cut short an entire athletic season, and can have lasting effects on knee health. Females are 2-10 times more likely to injure their ACL than males. Why are females at such a greater risk, and is there anything coaches and athletes can do to prevent ACL injuries?
