The Canadian Olympic Foundation (COF) is the philanthropic fundraising arm of the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) with the joint purpose  to transform Canada through the power of sport. The COF is only Foundation in Canada that raises funds to support athletes at all stages of their Olympic journey – from the spark of an Olympic dream to the moment they step on the podium and beyond their competition days.

Reporting to the Director, Fund Development and Operations, the Specialist, Donor Programs is a dynamic individual who drives revenue through leading the COF’s community/annual giving and encourages individuals to be a part of Team Canada. This role oversees unrestricted revenue generation through direct marking activations (mail and digital), social media, monthly donor program, and the acquisition of new donors. The Specialist, Donor Programs is a self-starter who is organized, tenacious and creative with a drive to raise funds and provide the best possible donor experience.

LOCATION

This position will be located in the COC office in Toronto, ON at 250 Yonge St. Suite 3000. We offer a hybrid work model that allows for up to two days of remote work each week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES

  • Lead the planning, development and execution of all annual and community giving programs using direct marketing tactics both with physical and electronic means (direct mail, online giving, mid-level giving, monthly giving and social engagement), with an annual revenue target of $500,000.
  • Develop and activate strategies, campaigns and tactics to increase annual giving revenue, securing new or incremental funding through the retention and expansion of the COF’s community donor base
  • Analyze and report on relevant annual and community giving programs data and analytics to inform outcomes, strategies and future innovations
  • Oversee the creation of content relevant to giving programs, impact reporting, and communication including written and through video approaches
  • Engage with Team Canada athlete ambassadors in accordance with COF and COC policies to encourage and steward funding
  • In collaboration with COC colleagues, manage opportunities for content creation and engagement on social media and digital channels that support department and revenue objectives.
  • Incorporate opportunities to identify, educate, encourage, and confirm estate gifts within donor programs.
  • Collaboratively manage confirmed estate gifts and stewardship strategies.
  • Ensure all contact with donors is recorded in the database including individual communications, mass appeals, donor inquiries, and stewardship
  • Other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience with a fundraising organization and knowledge of fundraising best practices
  • Previous experience with annual giving programs, data segmentation and testing

  • Marketing campaign creation and execution
  • Strong data management and data analytics skills
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and works well independently as well as collaboratively
  • Self-assured, polished, flexible and works well under pressure
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills with demonstrated ability to influence and persuade others
  • Strong analytical, judgement, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility in working hours and travel
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to balance several projects at the same time with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with various internal and external colleagues/stakeholders
  • Ability to speak and write in French is a strong asset
