In alignment with Canada Soccer’s National & Regional Excel Program, Ontario Soccer is making changes to the programming offered to Ontario’s most talented players. These positions will provide coaching leadership to Ontario’s top youth male and female players within Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel Program.
Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel Program detects young talent throughout the Province with the aid of Ontario Soccer Technical Staff, OPDL Technical Staff, District & Club Technical Leads, and Club Coaches to provide high level training and competition in preparation for Regional and National Excel Programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- To serve as a Provincial Team coach incorporating Ontario Soccer’s player priority principles, curriculum and adhere to the talented player development plan: March – May 2025.
- Attending all Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Staff meetings (Administrative and Technical).
- Manage and provide leadership to the Provincial weekend program events and April competition events.
- Lead the preparation of the daily itinerary during training and competition weekends with the support from Team Staff.
- Plan and conduct team training sessions.
- Proactively communicate to all Team Staff regarding all program commitments and ensure open communication lines with Ontario Soccer Technical Staff.
- Lead and manage Team Staff, ensuring all program commitments are met and high standards are met by all Staff.
- Select squad with Staff consultation and plan and conduct Team and Staff meetings.
- Plan and conduct team and individual player debriefing sessions post training or matches (Especially for players travelling long distances from outside the GTA.)
- When required, conduct player/parent debriefing sessions for players released from the program.
- Lead and provide support to the Staff in implementing the technical and tactical foundation of the Ontario Soccer’s Provincial programs brand, technical philosophy and standards on and off the field.
- Complete post competition event, a player technical snapshot report to the Manager of Development and Provincial Xcel within 1 month and other program review expectations from Ontario Soccer.
- Communicate with National Teams Coaching Staff if required.
- Adhere to the Provincial Xcel Program’s Staff Code of Conduct
Qualifications and Required Skill Sets:
- Meets Ontario Soccer’s Safe Sport requirements
- Preferred Canada Soccer National ‘A’ Diploma or Canada Soccer National Youth Diploma or equivalent;
- Coaching experience at the appropriate youth age and gender;
- Strong teaching, leadership, organization and communication skills;
- Understanding of team dynamics and being a team player;
- Well-developed time and people management skills;
- Personally believes in and commits to continuous professional development.

- March-April – Minimum 1 Provincial Screening Competition Weekend (U14, U15, U16, U17)
