Procurement Specialist Overview
This important role is responsible for managing the Mizuno purchasing department and implementing all purchasing policies. Over the interim of this position, main duties are the planning, managing, and purchasing of goods from external suppliers; monitoring and controlling inventory levels; as well as to assist in forecasting and planning for future production and sales growth. Their daily responsibilities include managing supplier and vendor relationships, approving purchase orders, confirming expected delivery dates and arranging freight for all incoming shipments. The candidate must possess a combination of technical and personal skills to effectively manage the procurement process. This successful candidate will report directly to the Team Division Director of Sales and Marketing.
Procurement Specialist Tasks
- Processes and reviews purchase orders with all vendors, maintaining records of goods ordered and received
- Manages weekly Inbound report and tracks shipments to ensure timely fulfillment of purchase orders
- Works with our freight forwarder to establish shipping instructions and provide commercial documents from vendors
- Ensures quality of procured items and resolves any issues or disputes with suppliers/vendors when they arise
- Builds and maintains relationships with vendors, including our Mizuno USA office
- Manages and oversees all aspects of the Mizuno MINT Program for all footwear categories, working closely with Mizuno USA and Japan (includes forecasts and sized orders)
- Communicates with vendors and executes all RFID tag requirements for National account purchase orders
- Responsible for creating and tracking special custom orders, non-inventory orders, as well as all sample orders
- Manages status code functions within our JDE system, such as SKU set up/pricing, purchase order revisions, and updating accurate arrival dates
- Collaborates with other departments (customer service, warehouse, management team) to ensure procurement needs are met
- Attends all monthly buy meetings, being prepared to discuss and review history on SKUs and add input where necessary to the purchasing process
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in business administration, logistics, or supply chain management
- 2-3 years of experience in purchasing or a related field
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Demonstrates strong leadership and decision-making abilities, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain management is required
- Knowledge of procurement software and databases; experience with JD Edwards, MINT, Centric PLM, and FineLine programs is a significant asset
