ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a seasoned Marketing Manager with a proven track record in Brand Management and Event Planning. Our ideal candidate is passionate about gender equity in sport, is a creative storyteller, a meticulous event planner, and is capable of driving brand growth in the sport ecosystem. Key to success in this role is rigorous project management and effective collaboration. Working with external agencies to execute high-impact experiences should come naturally to them.

This is a newly created role designed to scale up the marcomms function at Canadian Women and Sport. This role reports into the Director, Marketing & Communications and will work closely with cross functional teams to bring brand campaigns, program promotion and recruitment, and the organization’s event needs to life. This includes signature events like Rally Report and It’s Time as well as smaller events like panel discussions and webinars.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management (30%)

  • Lead the planning and execution of marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This includes brand, programming, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive marketing projects from concept to completion.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate with internal staff and external agencies to ensure project deliverables are completed on time and within budget.

Event Management (25%)

  • Own the annual planning and execution event calendar for the organization.
  • Design, plan, coordinate, and execute events, including but not limited to an annual signature event; quarterly community of practice (in person and/or virtual), and webinars and/or workshops.
  • Represent Canadian Women and Sport at community engagement and industry events.
  • Manage event budgets, timelines, logistics, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee the creation of event-related marketing materials, invitations, RSVPs and promotions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Set clear objectives for events aligned with our Impact Measurement Framework to track and report on success.

Brand Marketing (25%)

  • Support the Director of Marketing & Communications to launch and sustain national awareness, education, and knowledge translation campaigns.
  • Oversee brand guidelines and ensure proper implementation in all communications and marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling content that enhances brand awareness and engagement.
  • Conduct market research to assess brand perception and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, designers, and vendors to maintain brand integrity.
  • Establish baseline key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure brand success and optimize strategies accordingly.

Data & Budget Management (20%)

  • Track, analyze, and report on marketing performance metrics to inform data-driven decision-making.
  • Support the Director of Marketing & Communications in developing and managing marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
  • Monitor return on investment (ROI) for marketing campaigns and events.
  • Ensure financial accuracy in vendor agreements, sponsorships, and marketing expenditures.
  • Utilize analytics tools to optimize marketing strategies and improve engagement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Requirements:

  • Passion for advancing gender equity in sport.
  • 5-7 years of experience in marketing, with a strong focus on project management, brand marketing, event planning, and data analysis.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful marketing strategies.
  • Experience managing large-scale events and executing marketing campaigns.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
  • Experience in Salesforce, MailChimp, Hootsuite, Google Analytics (GA4) and budget management software.

Strong assets:

  • Bachelors in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Bilingualism (French-English)
  • Sport marketing experience
  • Proficiency in creating marketing assets using Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign or similar design tools.

DETAILS

  • This is a full-time, permanent, and remote position with the option of flexible working hours (core hours are 9am to 5pm)
  • Salary range is $70,000-$80,000 plus comprehensive health benefits. We determine starting salary based on the candidate’s experience alignment to the role and Canadian Women and Sport’s Core Competency Framework.
  • This position requires some travel (minimum two times a year within Canada for team gatherings and as needed for events or project delivery).
