Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) is seeking a Senior Coach (Pathways) to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Canadian rowing. This position is designed for a passionate and experienced coach who thrives on developing athletes and supporting their journey to the podium. The individual selected in this role will be assigned to the Men’s Program.

About the Role
As Senior Coach (Pathways), you will:

  • Provide daily coaching support at RCA’s National Training Centre, collaborating with Lead Coaches and High Performance staff.
  • Drive athlete development, including recruitment, performance tracking, and individualized performance planning.
  • Mentor and engage coaches across the High Performance pathway.
  • Contribute to selection processes, training programs, and pathway strategies for Canada’s top rowing talent.

Your work will directly impact Canada’s success at major international events such as the Olympic Games, World Championships, and World Cups.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum RCA Performance Coach Certification (or equivalent recognized by RCA and Coaching Association of Canada).
  • Proven experience coaching crews at Under-23 or higher international level, with a track record of coaching crews to top performances.
  • Strong ability to identify talent, build relationships, and create individualized development plans.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration within a high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily coaching support at RCA’s National Training Centre.
  • Athlete monitoring, goal setting, and gap analysis.
  • Talent identification and recruitment for the High-Performance pathway.
  • Delivery of fair and transparent selection activities.
  • Mentorship and resource support for coaches of identified athletes.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Athlete progression from NextGen to Senior National Team.
  • Measurable performance improvements (race results, erg scores).
  • Quality and effectiveness of Individual Athlete Performance Plans (IAPPs).
  • Impact of coach mentorship and engagement.

Salary Range: $72,925-$109,388 per annum. The salary offered to the successful candidate will consider several factors including but not limited to the individual’s skillset, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and internal equity considerations.
