Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada (WSWC) is the national governing body for towed water sports, including: adaptive, barefoot, show ski, wakeboard, wake surf and show ski. WSWC is dedicated to promoting participation, developing athletes, and hosting world-class events that inspire communities and celebrate the sport.
Position Overview
WSWC is seeking an experienced and dynamic Event Coordinator to facilitate and implement national and international events, including competitions, exhibitions, and community engagement activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The pinnacle event of 2025 is the Under 21 World Water Ski Championships in Calgary AB.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Planning and Management
- Develop and execute detailed event plans, timelines, and budgets for WSWC events, including national championships, clinics, and community outreach programs
- Liaise with stakeholders, including local organizing committees, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers, to ensure seamless event execution
- Oversee event logistics, including venue selection, permits, equipment rentals, travel arrangements, and accommodations
- Participate on the ground during scheduled event execution
- Sponsorship and Partner Engagement
- Collaborate with the marketing and sponsorship team to integrate sponsor activations and ensure contract deliverables are met
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate partners and stakeholders
- Athlete and Participant Coordination
- Work with sport coordinators to manage athlete registrations, schedules, and communications
- Ensure compliance with competition rules, regulations, and safety standards
- Volunteer and Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers and on-site staff
- Assign roles and responsibilities to ensure efficient operations during events
- Marketing and Communication
- Collaborate with the communications team to promote events through social media, email campaigns, and press releases
- Develop event materials, such as programs, signage, and participant guides
- Post-Event Analysis
- Conduct post-event evaluations to measure success and gather feedback for improvement
- Prepare detailed reports on event performance, including financial summaries and recommendations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in event management, sports management, business, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in event planning, preferably in sports or recreation
- Experience in planning international events is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software
- Knowledge of water sports, including water skiing and wakeboarding, is an asset
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as required
