Job: Director, Event Execution
Type: Full-time permanent, 35 hours per week
Reports to: Senior Director, Events and Production Services
Location: Based in Ottawa, hybrid with a requirement of working at least three days in the office
Travel: The role requires extensive travel within Canada. International travel is required sporadically.
Band: 6, $105,880 – $132,350

WHAT YOU WILL DO.
As a strategic thinker, the Director, Event Execution will play a pivotal role in shaping the Events department and instituting the practices and policies that drive organizational success. The Director, Event Execution will provide expertise and manage the execution of the event lifecycle, while training and performance managing appropriate staff.
Financial Performance
- Develop and manage assigned budgets for all domestic and international events.
- Analyze variances and adjust plans as required.
- Participate in grant applications with public funding bodies.
Host Selection
- Lead the site selection team and ensure that the selected city can support the delivery requirements including venue, hotel, airport etc.
- Act as the primary point of contact with the venue and hotel(s).
- Lead the development, execution and reconciliation of all contracts.
- Develop the site visit plan and lead all site-visits (including as required with Television Production Companies, and the International Skating Union) with internal and external stakeholders.
Event Delivery
- Lead and manage all aspects of event operations planning and execution.
- Develop and monitor event-specific critical paths and task lists.
- Oversee the plan for event operations in and around the venue such as: room and area designations, venue set-up, installation, construction and tear-down schedules.
- Oversee the execution of the plan onsite.
- In accordance with Ticketing Marketing Plan, determine a seat-kill plan that meets the needs of sport and ticket sales targets.
- Oversee the development and execution of the install schedule and plan including ice build & rink board installations, venue construction installations and installation of audio & video supplemental equipment.
- Oversee the venue Information Technology installation plan including internet and phone.
Broadcast and Live Streaming Services
- Act as the primary contact with Host Broadcast (HB) service provider.
- Manage fulfilment of HB Service Provider contracts as they relate to facilities and installation for all venue set-up related items.
- Coordinates all aspects of Television set up and construction on site.
- Coordinate all aspects of Live Steaming.
People Leadership
- Lead the Skate Canada Events team and ensure appropriate professional development and feedback is provided to all team members.
- Coordinate the on-site staffing schedule.
- Working with Skate Canada partners, ensure volunteer support is satisfactory and organized.
General
- Work collaboratively with other Skate Canada departments as required.
- Prepare reports on event performance for the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Other duties as assigned to meet Skate Canada objectives.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE POSITION.
- College or University degree in Business or Sports Management, or equivalent education and work experience.
- Minimum five to eight years’ progressive experience in event, meetings and/or conference management, with a variety of reporting structures, including experience working with and leading a team of volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to take the initiative, work independently and in a team environment where flexibility, strong internal communication, anticipating needs is essential.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Advanced MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) and broad knowledge in Visio/Auto CAD for venue planning maps, SmartSheet and/or Microsoft Project.

- Excellent judgment and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to motivate and coordinate others to reach project targets.
- Possesses a high standard of professional integrity with the ability to handle sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Fluency in English is required, fluency in French an asset.
