We are the largest private supporter of high-performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including the participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

Reporting to the Associate Manager, Content, the Coordinator, Content is responsible for supporting Team Canada/Équipe Canada’s online presence and community through the distribution and creation of content on social media, with a proficiency towards engaging our French audience. This individual is an integral part of the content team and plays a key role in engaging fans on Team Canada’s digital channels, including: social media, web, email, and mobile app.

Working cross-functionally with other areas of the business, this individual develops social and web content marketing opportunities that help the COC and its partners deliver against business objectives. The Coordinator, Content also acts as counsel for internal stakeholders, consulting on best practices and helping develop and execute cross-functional plans. This role is also responsible for monitoring trends in industry and the sports world to ensure Team Canada/Équipe Canada is always engaging and interacting with fans across every relevant digital touchpoint in original, creative and innovative ways.

LOCATION

This is a 12-month contract position, carrying through the duration of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games. The role will be located in one of the COC’s offices (Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West; or in Toronto, ON at 250 Yonge St. Suite 3000). We offer a hybrid work model that allows for up to two days of remote work each week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES

Content Creation

  • Edit French social and web content, including immediate translation needs for the Digital team to ensure all content is represented bilingually across Team Canada channels
  • Produce and adapt French content, including coverage of Team Canada/Équipe Canada results, updating athlete bios and other stock content
  • Serve as a key member of the Digital team, participating in ongoing content planning and brainstorming
  • Create new and innovative digital content for Team Canada/Équipe Canada channels to continuously engage and grow audiences
  • Develop creative content for social media and other marketing materials using primarily phone-based video and photo capture and editing tools
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure content aligns with ongoing priority initiatives and broader brand & marketing strategy
  • Optimize content requests from stakeholders, ensuring each piece of content engages audiences across all channels
  • Contribute contextual platform knowledge that increases Team Canada/Équipe Canada’s digital presence
  • Assist with email marketing tactics by creating and distributing newsletters to promote content and partner initiatives to Team Canada/Équipe Canada fans
  • Support the management of an internal content calendar to organize upcoming publication and distribution
  • Use both quantitative and qualitative analysis to optimize existing content and suggest net new content aligned with the strategy

Content Distribution

  • Work with content marketing colleagues to support execution and distribution of  content across all digital channels
  • Drive fan engagement by strategically creating and distributing content to Team Canada/Équipe Canada audience across various channels
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media tools, nuances, and best practices to help grow Team Canada/Équipe Canada’s online presence
  • Maximize the shelf life of Team Canada/Équipe Canada content (both new and evergreen) with strategic repurposing
  • Work directly with social media colleagues to understand and implement brand strategy, guidelines, and target audiences
  • Execute on tactics following content distribution plans as assigned
  • Collaborate with content team to implement best practices for optimizing and testing to help reach business objectives

Community Management

  • Support English and French community management for Team Canada/Équipe Canada across social, web, and mobile app
  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity to cultivate and nurture the Team Canada/Équipe Canada audience and sentiment
  • Obtain feedback and ideas from Team Canada/Équipe Canada fans through post-creative analysis and communication
  • Maintain a consistent tone of voice for the Team Canada/Équipe Canada brand across social media channels
  • Create a safe space for fans to ask questions, get help, feel supported, share ideas, provide feedback, and solve problems.
  • Assist with developing tactical plans for Team Canada/Équipe Canada’s social media channels
  • Constantly monitor the sports industry and related news to ensure real-time responses and timely content creation
  • Other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications, or a related field 
  • 1-2 years of experience managing social media platforms for a consumer facing brand or sports property with significant audiences across all social media platforms 
  • Proven experience managing a variety of social media platforms with significant audiences including (but not limited to): TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Threads, and YouTube 

Skills and Abilities

  • Professional expertise in both French and English (written and spoken)
  • Strong understanding of social media best practices and platform nuances
  • Comfortable working with WordPress or similar content management system
  • Familiarity with data analysis and SEO best practices
  • Creative and innovative thinker with experience creating digital content
  • A strong understanding of Team Canada/Équipe Canada’s stakeholders and target audiences is an asset
  • Strong social media and copywriting skills with experience creating engaging and adaptable content for web, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic digital photography and editing experience (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent software considered a strong asset)
  • A skilled communicator comfortable speaking with internal and external groups
  • Ability to interpret data and trends to make social media and digital content projections
  • Knowledge of athletes, NSOs and Canadian sports industry considered an asset
  • Familiarity with researching and presenting digital content analysis
  • Experience with Content Production tools is a strong asset (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
  • Experience interacting with athletes and/or personalities and conducting interviews on and off camera is an asset
