Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC)
The Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced leader to join our team as CEO. This is an exciting full-time opportunity to make a lasting impact on the sport and physical activity community in Canada and beyond. As the CEO, you will lead a dedicated team to advance the strategic priorities of SIRC while ensuring the organization’s long-term sustainability, growth, and effectiveness in the ever-evolving sport sector.
This is also a unique opportunity to transition and work closely with the current CEO, who is retiring after an impactful 28-year career in the Canadian sport sector.
SIRC is based in the House of Sport in Ottawa, offering a vibrant, collaborative environment in the heart of Canada’s sport community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide progressive, visionary leadership to SIRC, guiding the organization’s strategic direction and operations
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to implement and refine the organization’s strategic plan in alignment with the needs of the sport, recreation and physical activity sectors in Canada.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in the sport and research communities, government partners, and regulatory bodies to grow the sport network and strengthen the SIRC Brand and capacity as a thought leader and facilitator of system-wide conversations and leading-edge communications.
- Oversee the preparation of funding applications, diversify revenue sources, and identify new business development opportunities to ensure the organization’s financial sustainability.
- Guide research and knowledge mobilization initiatives among sport and physical activity providers to support researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders in engaging with one another and building capacity to conduct and communicate credible research that informs evidence-based collaboration and problem-solving
- Champion SIRC’s values and maintain a team-oriented, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with financial and legal requirements, and efficient management of resources and operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A seasoned leader with significant experience in business development, preferably in the sport sector
- Strong appreciation of research with a demonstrated ability to manage and drive research projects and mobilize knowledge informed by research, supported by a degree in communications, business, kinesiology, information management or a related field
- Proven experience working with a board of directors, government agencies, stakeholders, and partners, and an understanding of the not-for-profit sector in Canada.
- Expertise in preparing funding applications and diversifying revenue sources.
- A track record of strategic leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset, given the national scope of SIRC’s work.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a welcoming, approachable demeanor.

Compensation: This position offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
Start Date: The successful candidate will be expected to start by June 1, 2025.
