Swimming Canada Board of Directors Call for Nominations

The Swimming Canada Nominations Committee is seeking nominations for the Board of Directors. The election of Directors will take place at the Annual General Meeting (the “AGM”) on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. There are three (3) Director Positions for election at the AGM, each for a term of three (3) years. The Rules that govern Nominations and Elections are available on the Swimming Canada website: https://www.swimming.ca/annual-general-meeting/.

Swimming Canada is committed to attracting, developing and celebrating a diverse Board of Directors that reflects the community we serve. As a result, Swimming Canada promotes equity and diversity and encourages candidates to indicate, voluntarily in their application, if they are a member of an under-represented group.

Experience in the field of competitive swimming (athletes with or without a disability) is considered an asset.

The Board of Directors is composed of nine (9) persons that, together, have skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance
  • Governance
  • Legal knowledge and expertise
  • Policy development and implementation
  • Risk management
  • Strategic/business planning

The Board meets 4 to 5 times per year either in person or by conference call. Board members will be assigned to one or more of the following Board Committees:

  • Audit, Finance and Risk
  • External Relations
  • Governance
  • High Performance
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Nominations
  • Sport Development

APPLICATION

Persons seeking to be nominated for election as a Director at the AGM must submit each portion of the application (listed below) in the link below, no later than 9pm ET on Friday, July 4, 2025. As the Nominations Committee will review each nomination in detail and intend to conduct interviews with selected applicants, you are encouraged to submit the application as soon as possible.

  • A current biography (not to exceed 500 words); and
  • A statement of interest providing rationale as to why the candidate is interested in serving on the Swimming Canada Board of Directors (not to exceed 250 words). Candidates should highlight how their skills and experiences align with and support SNC’s needs; and
  • A resume, and/or links to professional profiles (e.g. LinkedIn, Corporate Websites, etc.); and
  • The signed nominations form.

All profiles will be translated, posted publicly on the Swimming Canada website and circulated to the Swimming Canada AGM delegates. Swimming Canada may alter the documents for consistency and to remove any person and confidential information. All candidates are expected to submit information they feel comfortable being posted externally.

Applicants are advised that interviews for selected candidates will be conducted virtually on Monday, August 11, or Tuesday, August 12, between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM ET.
