Classroom Champions is a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering structured, holistic, scaled mentorship programs that include goal setting, leadership, and community engagement.

Position Summary

The Athlete Community Engagement Manager is the first point of contact for the Classroom Champions athlete mentors, which includes Olympians, Paralympians, professional athletes, and NCAA student-athletes.

Reporting to the Director of Athletes, the Athlete Community Engagement Manager will foster a vibrant, supportive, and inclusive athlete community, promoting athlete involvement and retention to increase engagement with various community-based initiatives. This position will oversee athlete operations, from content creation to community management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals to amplify the impact of the Classroom Champions Athlete Mentor Program within the community.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, empathetic, and passionate about empowering athletes to inspire classrooms and communities and build meaningful partnerships and programs that elevate both the athlete’s brand and the community.

Job Responsibilities

Onboarding and Engagement

  • Review and design onboarding processes and programs to effectively onboard and integrate athletes into our programs.
  • Organize regular check-ins with athlete mentors for consistent communication.
  • Develop recognition and incentive programs to celebrate athlete contributions, identifying retention opportunities for athletes.
  • Track, analyze, and report metrics related to athlete engagement and retention.
  • Use data insights to develop actionable strategies to improve engagement rates and participation.

Content Creation and Production

  • Oversee production and timely delivery of athlete content, including mentor videos, newsletters, and updates.
  • Review all athlete-submitted content and ensure content meets program requirements and deadlines.

Community Partnership and Collaboration

  • Build and maintain relationships with community and corporate partners to identify collaboration opportunities and enhance the impact of community-focused programs.
  • Facilitate athlete participation in events, collaborations, and public engagements, in collaboration with the events team.
  • Coordinate schedules for live interactions with classrooms.

Program Development and Retention

  • Work closely with athletes to implement the new Athlete Development Program being created by the Athlete Team.
  • Facilitate the design, rollout, and evaluation of the Athlete Development Program, ensuring its successful integration into the athlete community.
  • Boost athlete participation in workshops, training programs, and development opportunities through targeted communication and personalized support.
  • Lead initiatives to engage and retain athletes, including launching a formal athlete community and developing impactful engagement strategies.

Athlete Development and Support

  • Provide consistent training, resources, and tools to ensure sustained athlete engagement and high performance.
  • Foster open communication with athletes, proactively addressing inquiries, requests, and concerns with prompt and effective solutions.
  • Offer one-on-one support to mentors, addressing challenges and ensuring retention through personalized guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance athletes’ knowledge and understanding of programs, boosting participation in workshops and training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate progress using development assessments and implement strategies to support continuous growth.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (an asset).
  • Previous experience in program design and building strong community partnerships (an asset).
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a passion for motivating and inspiring others.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to manage diverse forms of communication (email, Slack, Monday.com, etc.).
  • Creative problem solver who thinks outside the box, researches new technologies and tools, and implements innovative solutions to overcome challenges.
  • Passionate about empowering athletes and supporting social and emotional learning (SEL) initiatives to impact children and classrooms across North America.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, video conferencing tools, and project management platforms.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with a collaborative approach.

Other Requirements

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada or the U.S. without restrictions.
  • Must possess valid travel documentation.
