SCRI 2020 – Registration Confirmation

Thank you for registering for the 14th annual Sport Canada Research Initiative (SCRI) Conference, held on October 29-30th, 2020 on Zoom.

Session 1 – Return to Play

Oct. 29th, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. EST

This session will focus on the key considerations and next steps for the sport sector looking beyond COVID-19. It will begin with a keynote from Dr. Andrew Marshall, Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Paralympic Committee. Followed by a panel of sport organizations from across Canada to share how they have used evidence to inform their plan for return to play.

Session 2 – Sport and Social Change

Oct. 29th, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. EST

In this session Dr. Lisa O’Keefe, Director of Insight, Sport England will share how they used research and data to drive key decisions to best support the sport sector during this time. During the second half of this session will be a panel to discuss anti-racism in sport with the goal of advancing the conversation, promoting learning, and supporting action to ensure sport in Canada is safe, welcoming and inclusive.

Session 3 – Canadian Sport Research Showcase

Oct. 30th, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. EST

During this session delegates will learn about key research initiatives leveraging research to support policy and practice and supporting the connection between researchers and practitioners, including the new SIRC Forum and the Gender Equity Research Hub. Followed by an interactive, virtual poster session.

Session 4 – Innovative Communication

Oct. 30th, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. EST
This session begins with a keynote from renowned speaker, Bob McDonald, host of CBC’s Quirks and Quarks, to share his insights on creative thinking and communicating science. Followed by an interactive workshop led by Jill Sadler, VP of Learning & Development at Blueprint North America, to leave you inspired to think differently about communication and give you tools to tell the story within the data that will move your stakeholders to action.
