Get Ready for this Weekend’s Short Track World Championships in Dordrecht

DORDRECHT, NETHERLANDS  Canadas short track team is set to hit the ice in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, this weekend for the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships. It will be the teams first international competition since the COVID-19 pandemic brought things to a halt last March.

The list of athletes who will compete at the ISU World Short Track Championships can be found below. Those in bold font will be participating in the individual distances, while the rest will only skate in the relays.

• Friday, March 5 (500m, 1000m and 1500m Qualifications)
• Saturday, March 6 (1500m Finals; 500m Finals; Relay Semi-Finals)
• Sunday, March 7 (1000m Finals; 3000m Superfinals; Relay Finals)

Television and Streaming

• CBC Sports will have live streaming coverage of all competition days.
  • Friday, March 5 from 5:35am – 11:45am ET
  • Saturday, March 6 from 4:35am – 11:45am ET
  • Sunday, March 7 from 5:10am – 10:55am ET
• CBC Sports will also have televised coverage as part of their Road to the Olympic Games program. Brenda Irving and short track Olympian Michael Gilday will be calling the action.

  • Sunday, March 7 at 1:00pm ET

Post-Race Interviews

• Canadas individual distance skaters will be available for post-race interviews via Zoom after each competition day. To get access to the Zoom meeting, please email Alain Brouillette (communications@speedskating.ca).
• We will attempt to conduct the video calls according to the schedule below, however there is the possibility of delays. The meetings will be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel.
  • Friday, March 5 at 12:30pm ET
  • Saturday, March 6 at 12:30pm ET
  • Sunday, March 7 at 12:30pm ET
• Interview requests for Canadian skaters taking part in the relays (those not on the Zoom calls) should be made directly to Alain Brouillette (communications@speedskating.ca).
