Triathlon Canada Ramps Up Athlete and Coaching Support with TrainingPeaks

VICTORIA—Athletes and coaches throughout the Triathlon Canada Nation will have a boost of support in their pursuit of excellence thanks to a new partnership struck between Triathlon Canada and TrainingPeaks on Thursday.

Driven to help motivated endurance athletes achieve their performance dreams, Triathlon Canada will build on its longstanding relationship with TrainingPeaks to continue to provide smart and effective digital training solutions to help athletes and coaches accomplish their goals.

“Triathlon Canada is committed to ensuring athletes and coaches at all levels of our sport across the country have easy access to the critical tools they require to achieve their personal best,” said Kim Van Bruggen, chief executive officer, Triathlon Canada. “We are excited to continue our relationship with TrainingPeaks in an effort to help take the performance of our athletes and coaches to another level by accessing the online support of TrainingPeaks.”

Based out of Boulder Colorado, TrainingPeaks continues to serve as a critical tool for Triathlon Canada’s elite athletes and coaches in its Olympic and Paralympic programs who use the program to monitor daily training plans, monitoring progress, and for athlete-coach communication which has been invaluable during the COVID period.

As part of the new agreement, TrainingPeaks will be included in the Triathlon Canada member benefits program. Members will receive exclusive discounts on TrainingPeaks products, including Premium Athlete and Coach accounts.

“We’re thrilled to extend our partnership with Triathlon Canada through 2025,” said Dirk Friel, TrainingPeaks co-founder and Chief Evangelist. “In 2017 we teamed up with Triathlon Canada to provide their members the tools they need to train smarter and reach their endurance goals. I’m proud to continue that tradition well into the future.”

The extension of the partnership will also provide an opportunity to integrate high-quality coaching content and services into Triathlon Canada’s new Coaching Portal. The Portal, which is an education hub for all registered triathlon coaches across Canada, incorporates all elements of coach education from the completion of safe sport training through to all stages of Triathlon Canada’s National Coaching Certification Program. Triathlon Canada launched an updated National Coaching Certification initiative in 2019 to provide positive education and practices amongst Canada’s triathlon coaching community through mentorship, training and certification.

“No matter where the start line is, a great coach is instrumental in creating a healthy, safe and supportive environment for all to enjoy,” added Van Bruggen. “Coaches help athletes to reach their full potential, and we’re continuing to find ways to support our coaches to do the same. Every athlete deserves access to a great coach. And, every coach needs the knowledge, skills and tools to support their athletes. This partnership with TrainingPeaks is another investment in our most important resources.”

Triathlon Canada is the governing body of the sport in the country. Triathlon Canada’s more than 22,000 members include athletes, coaches and officials from the grassroots to elite levels. With the support of its valued corporate partners – 94 FORWARD, 2XU Canada, TrainingPeaks, Subaru Canada– along with the City of Victoria, Government of Canada, Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee, and Own the Podium, Triathlon Canada develops Olympic, Paralympic and World Champions in all race disciplines.
