As part of Canada’s staged approach to prevent and address maltreatment in sport, McLaren Global Sport Solutions (MGSS) was contracted to provide an independent analysis of existing research and evidence-informed best practices to inform the identification of the most appropriate and effective mechanism(s) and approach to independently administer and enforce the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) at the national level.
The report is one of the key data points that will help inform Sport Canada’s identification of proposed requirements, necessary structure, and key responsibilities and services that would be mandatory for an independent body to administer the UCCMS for federally funded sport organizations.
Sport Canada is now seeking an organization to lead the establishment of an Independent Safe Sport Mechanism for the national sport community.
