Volleyball Canada announces 2021 Nationals dates

Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce the dates and host locations for 2021 Nationals.

“We are looking forward to hosting Nationals next year in several locations,” said Sandra de Graaff, Volleyball Canada’s director of domestic competitions.

“With the cancellation of this year’s Nationals due to the pandemic, next year will be especially exciting to return to competition with the help of our supportive partners across the country.”

Nationals will kick off in Ottawa, Ontario, in late April with 14U events (also hosted in Winnipeg and Halifax). Other events will be held in Waterloo, Ontario, as well as Edmonton, Alberta, and Regina, Saskatchewan. Nationals concludes almost a month later in Montreal, Quebec, with the 18U tournaments.

“Tourisme Montréal is extremely pleased to have confirmed the rights to organize the 18U Volleyball Canada Nationals in 2021 for the first time in Montréal in 25 years”, said Yves Lalumière, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal. “This large gathering of more than 2400 athletes at the Palais des congrès is sure to generate significant tourism and economic spin-off benefits for our city, in addition to leaving a meaningful legacy for sport. We look forward to working closely with our local partners to provide a memorable stay for all participants.”

Based on early projections, 2021 may be the largest Nationals ever with an estimated 1200 teams from across the country.

“We know it’s been a challenging year for sport, but our goal, along with our hosts and funding partners, is to celebrate the sport next year, and create an exciting and safe atmosphere for all participants,” said de Graaff.
