Weekly Equestrian Canada COVID-19 Wrap-Up

Equestrian Canada (EC) would like to share the following updates from the twelfth week of responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

EC’s key actions this week:

  • Accepted an invitation to appear before The House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food on June 5, 2020, at 2 p.m. EDT. Kristy House, EC Manager of Welfare and Industry, and Richard Mongeau, Interim Executive Director of Cheval Québec, will be presenting and answering questions on the Canadian response to the COVID-19 pandemic in relation to the Canadian equine/equestrian industry. The recording will be made available online on ParlVu and the Committee’s website.
  • Met with Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations for further detailed discussions on competition sanctioning and operations plans.
  • Met with national affiliate organizations to discuss advocacy needs and next steps.

Additionally, EC would like to remind the community that as provinces/territories reopen, Learn to Ride programs and evaluations will be able to restart if permissible by regional and provincial health authorities. Please contact your Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization for information about program status in your area.
