DRESDEN, GERMANY – After skating to a gold medal in the ladies 500m at the World Cup in Dresden, Germany, Kim Boutin has withdrawn her participation from the final World Cup stop of the season, taking place this weekend in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. She will head home to Montreal to ensure an optimal preparation for the World Short Track Championships in Seoul, South Korea on March 13-15, 2020.

She’ll leave the Canadian women’s team in the capable hands of Courtney Sarault, who has captured three silver and one bronze World Cup medal in individual distances so far this season. Alyson Charles, Danaé Blais, Claudia Gagnon and Rikki Doak round out the group.

The World Cup in Dordrecht begins on Friday, February 14, with races to be streamed live on CBC Sports beginning at 5:00AM EST.

“The World Short Track Championships are the most important event of our season, so I need to be well prepared to perform at my best during that competition. Together with my coaches and support staff, we made the decision that additional rest and time at home would be more valuable for my preparation than competing at the World Cup in the Netherlands.” – Kim Boutin
