PREMIER12: Canada set to open against Cuba

Baseball Canada – SEOUL, South Korea – The Canadian Men’s Baseball Team will open the WBSC Premier12 event on Tuesday, November 5th (10PM ET) against Cuba inside Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome as the road to securing a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games begins.

Two Tokyo 2020 spots will be awarded at Premier12 with one going to the highest-placed finisher from the Americas and one to the highest finisher in the Super Round/Finals from the Asia/Oceania region.

The 12-nation event will see Canada compete in Group C with Cuba, host South Korea and Australia. The top two teams in the group will advance to Japan to compete in the Super Round from November 11-16.

Manager Ernie Whitt will send Gatineau, Québec’s Phillippe Aumont to the mound with Cuba countering with right-hander Carlos Viera.
