Canadian Skaters to Compete in Finland at the Last ISU Grand Prix of the Season

Ottawa, ON (Nov. 17, 2025) – Seven Canadians skaters are heading to Helsinki, Finland for the sixth event of the ISU Grand Prix Series, to be held from Nov. 21-23. The Finlandia Trophy is the last stop of the series before qualifying athletes travel to Nagoya, Japan for the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December.

World silver medallists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier will bring a wealth of experience to the ice dance field in Helsinki. The team enter the competition following a historic sixth consecutive gold medal win at Skate Canada International earlier this month. They will have their sights set on the podium again in hopes of securing a spot at the Grand Prix Final.

Canada will be represented by national silver medallists Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud in the pair competition. The duo recently set a new personal best score in the short program at Skate Canada International, where they finished just off the podium in fourth place.

In the men’s event, Roman Sadovsky and Stephen Gogolev will go head-to-head for the fourth time this year. The athletes have been in close competition throughout the season, finishing in seventh and eighth place respectively at Skate Canada International.

Canadian champion Madeline Schizas will round out the delegation in the women’s competition. She will look to move up the leaderboard in Helsinki after finishing in ninth place at her first Grand Prix outing this season.
