The Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup kicks off in style with a festive and competitive Pro-Am

La Malbaie, September 21, 2025 – The Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup got underway today in a lively and festive atmosphere with the staging of its traditional Pro-Am, an eagerly awaited event for both amateur and professional golfers. The tournament was held on the prestigious Saint-Laurent and Richelieu courses of the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu Golf Club, offering a unique backdrop of river and mountains to mark the start of this week of competition.

For several years now, the Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup has secured a prime spot on the Québec PGA calendar. A true showcase for the region, the tournament attracts top-level players and helps highlight Charlevoix as a must-visit golf destination. The Pro-Am, which always precedes the professional competition, perfectly embodies the mission of the event: to create memorable moments where sport, camaraderie, and hospitality come together.

This friendly format allows amateur golfers to enjoy an exceptional experience by sharing the course with professional members of the Québec PGA. For the amateurs, it is a unique opportunity to interact closely with the province’s golf elite, benefit from their advice, and experience firsthand the demands of the sport—all in a warm and welcoming environment.

At the end of the day, it was the group led by professional Jean-Pierre Morin that stood out, thanks to an outstanding team performance. Morin and his amateur teammates, Jacques Côté, Eric Smith, and Réal Labé, completed their round with a spectacular scorecard of 57 (-15), earning them the top spot on the leaderboard.

“The Pro-Am of the Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup is a tradition we deeply cherish. It perfectly reflects the values of our association: sharing, passion, and accessibility in golf. For our professionals, it’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community, and for amateurs, it’s an unforgettable experience they will treasure for years to come,” said Eric Couture, Executive Director of the Québec PGA.

The event was also praised by Caroline Ouellette, Director of Sales and Marketing at Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu:

“Hosting the Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup is always a highlight of our calendar. The Pro-Am is a symbol of camaraderie and passion, showcasing everything our region has to offer: world-class facilities, spectacular scenery, and renowned hospitality. We are proud to partner with the Québec PGA to provide our guests with an experience that blends competition and enjoyment.”

All eyes now turn to the official competition, which kicks off tomorrow. Teams of two professionals, who qualified throughout the season, will compete under the two-ball better-ball format. True to its reputation, this marathon tournament promises to crown champions worthy of the event after two grueling days of 36-hole play.
