Svante Enhances Support of Canada’s Speed Skating Teams Ahead of Important Season

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Svante Technologies Inc. (Svante) is increasing their investment in Canada’s most successful Olympic sport, ensuring Speed Skating Canada’s world-class short track and long track programs have the resources they need to perform at the highest level as they make their final push towards Milano Cortina 2026.

Based in Vancouver, Svante manufactures solid adsorbent filters and modular carbon capture machines that trap and remove CO2 from industrial emissions and the air. As a trailblazer in this important field, Svante’s purpose is to create world-changing solutions that address climate change and accelerate the global transition to carbon neutrality.

Since launching their unique partnership in October 2024, Svante and Speed Skating Canada have collaborated on several key initiatives that highlight the adverse effects of climate change on outdoor winter sports such as speed skating. As part of this expanded investment, Svante will receive increased visibility on national team uniforms throughout the 2025-26 season, bringing international awareness to the groundbreaking work they are doing to accelerate the adoption of carbon management solutions for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

“This expanded investment from Svante will be instrumental in our ability to maintain a world-class support system for our athletes as the travel the globe to represent Canada this Olympic season. Canadian skaters are consistently contending for the podium, and we hope this enhanced visibility will help raise awareness for the important work Svante is doing in the fight against climate change. We look forward to leading the conversation amongst those in the speed skating community on this important topic impacting the long-term viability of our sport,” said Joe Morissette, Chief Executive Officer of Speed Skating Canada.

Last winter, Svante and Speed Skating Canada announced a joint climate change education campaign called ‘Save the Ice’, which aims to raise awareness about the impact of global warming on winter sports, including speed skating, and enables Canadians to make a tangible impact on the climate. For every share of the campaign video, which features Olympian Gaétan Boucher, Svante will remove half a kilogram of CO₂ from the atmosphere via their partner Deep Sky, a meaningful step to help preserve our planet for future generations.

Svante also supported the revitalization of Speed Skating Canada’s Hall of Fame display at the Olympic Oval to ensure that the contributions of the sport’s trailblazing athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come. The newly minted Hall of Fame, which was officially opened in February 2025, features a series of displays that showcase the humble outdoor beginnings of the sport in Canada, the unique equipment needed to skate at speeds of up to 60km/h, and the accomplishments of legendary athletes who have worn the maple leaf with pride on the international stage.

“In this Olympic year, Svante is proud to stand as a major partner of Speed Skating Canada. Our collaboration reflects the values we share – pursuing goals once thought unattainable, striving beyond limits, and working together toward a common purpose. Most importantly, we are united by a commitment to achieving peak performance in a way that is both responsible and sustainable,” said Richard Laliberté, Chief Operating Officer, Svante.

Canadian speed skating fans will get the first look at all-new skin suits featuring Svante branding at next month’s ISU Short Track World Tour stops in Montreal on October 9-12 and October 16-19. The long track suits will make their international home debut one month later at the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Calgary from November 21-23.
