Canada’s reigning national women’s and men’s champions will represent Canada at the 2025 United States Steel Pan Continental Curling Championships, it was confirmed today by Curling Canada.
Team Rachel Homan of Ottawa and Team Brad Jacobs of Calgary will don Maple Leaf uniforms at the fourth annual Pan Continentals, which will take place outside of Canada for the first time — Oct. 19-26 at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia, Minn.
The Pan Continental Championships serve as a qualifying event for annual world men’s and women’s championships. Team Homan and Team Jacobs earned their berths by winning the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and 2025 Montana’s Brier, presented by AGI, respectively.
Canada’s berth as host nation for the 2026 BKT Tires World World Women’s Curling Championship, March 14-22 in Calgary is already assured, so Team Homan’s quest in Minnesota will be to become the first team ever to win back-to-back women’s gold medals after its 2024 victory in Lacombe, Alta.
Team Jacobs, meanwhile, will be looking for a top-five finish that will lock down Canada’s berth in the 2026 LGT World Men’s Curling Championship in Ogden, Utah.
It will be the first time Team Jacobs has participated in the Pan Continental Championships after Team Brad Gushue played in the first three editions, winning gold in 2022 and 2023 and placing fourth last year in Lacombe.
“We know there’s a great responsibility that goes along with representing Canada in international curling events,” said Jacobs, whose team is rounded out by vice-skip Marc Kennedy, second Brett Gallant, lead Ben Hebert, alternate Tyler Tardi, team coach Paul Webster and national coach Jeff Stoughton. “This is a terrific opportunity for us to not only get the job done for Canada, but also get some high-stakes games in for the lead-up to the Montana’s Canadian Curling Trials in Halifax.”
“We don’t take these occasions to wear our national uniform lightly, and we’re already working hard to be ready to play in Minnesota in October,” added Homan, whose two-time reigning world championship team features vice-skip Tracy Fleury, second Emma Miskew, lead Sarah Wilkes, alternate Rachelle Brown, team coach Heather Nedohin and national coach Viktor Kjell. “It’s always an honour and a privilege, and we’re very excited to be able to do it again this fall.”
