Quebec’s Claude-Olivier Lisé-Coderre, Canada Games platform champion!

Saturday, August 23, 2025 (St. John’s) – The men’s platform title was fiercely contested Saturday evening at the St. John’s pool. In the end, it was Quebec’s Claude-Olivier Lisé-Coderre who came out on top in this final individual event of the Canada Games.

“I’m especially proud of this gold medal on platform because it’s always the most stressful event for me. I don’t know why. I think it’s because there are always so many people watching, and that adds pressure,” said Lisé-Coderre.

After the third round, only two points separated Saskatchewan’s Kash Tarasoff from Quebec’s Claude-Olivier Lisé-Coderre.

The Saskatchewan athlete was also in the lead after the fourth dive, but the Quebecer managed to pull ahead with his final dive. He claimed the gold medal with a total of 358.35 points.

Coming out of the water after his last dive, Lisé-Coderre looked up at the scoreboard and went straight to celebrate with his Quebec teammates in front of the stands.

“I’ll really always remember this moment. It’s rare that we get the chance to represent our province. To win the gold medal and celebrate with my teammates is really special,” he said.

“It was a very high-level final. The other divers all performed really well, and I think that’s what made the evening so special. It’s always great to see others do well,” he added.

Tarasoff finished second with 352.05 points. “I’m really happy to be on the podium with my friends and to be able to celebrate with my team. I missed my last dive, but I’m proud of the rest of my list. It was a great competition,” commented Tarasoff.

Quebec’s Samuel Talbot took third place with a total score of 352.00.

The men put on quite a show for the fans at the Works Aquarena. Athletes from other sports were also in the stands, cheering on their delegation’s divers. You could feel the energy of the crowd.

And that energy is expected to be back on Sunday for the much-anticipated mixed team event.
