OTTAWA, ON (August 6, 2025) – Cycling Canada is proud to spotlight the next generation of talent ahead of the 2025 Canada Summer Games, where athletes from across the country will compete in Road, Mountain Bike, and Para disciplines from August 8-25 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Rooted in a strong tradition that dates back to the inaugural Canada Summer Games in 1969, cycling remains a cornerstone of this national multi-sport event. The 2025 edition will see riders navigate iconic Newfoundland terrain including Marine Drive, Team Gushue Highway, the streets of downtown St. Johns and the trails at Pippy Park. The cycling program at the 2025 Canada Summer Games features a full spectrum of events across Road and Mountain Bike disciplines, with Road events featuring time trials, road races, and criteriums, and Mountain Bike competitions offering cross-country, relay, and short track formats. Notably, this year marks the historic inclusion of Para athletes in the road race and time trial, marking an exciting step forward for inclusive sport.

With rising stars spanning every corner of the country, the 2025 Canada Summer Games will showcase a new generation of cyclists ready to make their mark. From British Columbia’s Ellie Winchel, a dual-discipline rider fresh off her MTB Worlds appearance, to Alberta’s Amaia Ervin-Arambarri, who pivoted from triathlon to road racing with impressive results at the 2025 Gastown Grand Prix, the talent runs deep. Keep an eye on Ontario’s Elly (Road & MTB) and Evan Moore (MTB) showing some family representation at the national level. Quebec’s Lily-Rose Marois and Maude Ruelland, both ranked top 20 globally for juniors, are expected to bring intensity to the trails alongside Maxime St-Onge, a returning Games veteran with World Cup experience. Several alumni of past Canada Games, including Catharine Pendrel, Hugo Houle, Isabella Holmgren, and Sarah Van Dam, have gone on to compete on the world stage at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, and UCI World Championships, showcasing the Games’ long-standing role as a launchpad for elite success.
