Montréal, August 2, 2025 – In the first individual finals of her World Aquatics Championships career, diver Amélie-Laura Jasmin finished eleventh in the 3m springboard event on Saturday in Singapore.
In the morning’s semi-finals, the Québécoise had finished tenth.
“I’m really happy with what I accomplished this week at my first world championships. I probably could have done a bit better in the finals, but I feel that I gave my all in the semi-finals, and I proved that I really do belong among the best in the world,” said Jasmin.
“In the finals, I was feeling tired and drained from earlier, since I had given my all to make it to the finals. But overall, I’m really happy with my performance. Just to have made it to the finals was a big accomplishment for me!”
In addition to the fatigue she felt in the final rounds, the 21-year-old also noted that the level of competition was higher than that of the World Cup circuit events in which she normally competes.
This past April, Jasmin and her diving partner Sonya Palkhivala created a sensation at the World Cup in Windsor, Ontario, when they won silver in the synchronized 3m event in their first-ever international competition as a team.
“Now my goal is to work even harder to perfect the elements that will allow me to move up in the rankings,” concluded Jasmin, who will return home shortly for a week of training before heading to Paraguay for the Junior Pan American Games.
Also on Saturday, Quebec’s Benjamin Tessier and Matt Cullen took part in the men’s 10m preliminary rounds. Tessier’s sixteenth-place finish will allow him to advance to Sunday morning’s semi-finals. Cullen finished 33rd.
