SOFTBALL NEW BRUNSWICK – TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Position Overview
Softball New Brunswick is seeking a Technical Director to lead its high performance, coaching and pitching programs within the organization. The successful candidate will ensure that identified players, coaches and instructors receive the necessary support to progress towards the next level of their game. They will play a key role in the New Brunswick Performance Pathway Initiative (NBPPI) and help athletes develop in alignment with the Long-Term Player Development (LTPD).
Position: Technical Director
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Fredericton, New Brunswick with travel around the province
Hours: 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as required
Duration: Full-time, four-year contract (possibility of renewal)
Salary: $45,000-$50,000 based on Qualifications
About Softball New Brunswick
Softball New Brunswick is a non-for-profit Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) founded in 1926 and is the official governing body of Fast Pitch, Orthodox and Slo-Pitch in NB. Softball New Brunswick’s mandate is to promote softball in all areas of the province for the enjoyment of all members from playground to podium.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Director will be responsible for:
- Leading High-Performance, Coaching and Pitching Programs within New Brunswick
- Ensuring players develop appropriately through the Long-Term Player Development
- Assisting in the planning and execution of all Provincial Team programs including but not limited to NB Selects and Canada Games Programs.
- Further developing the player and coach development pathway in collaboration with various stakeholders
- Supporting ‘AA’ level teams across the province
- Coordinating with experts to deliver modern, relevant programs
- Identifying and developing performance Softball coaches in New Brunswick
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
- Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Coaching, Sport Management or a related field
- Experience working with athletes and coaches at a performance level is required
- Minimum NCCP certified Competition Introduction Coach, preferred certified Competition Development Coach
- Ability to instruct Fast Pitch Pitching is strongly preferred
- NCCP Learning Facilitator and/or Coach Evaluator Training is an asset
- Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Bilingualism is an asset
