Canada Takes Silver at the 2025 Canada Cup After Hard-Fought Battle

Surrey, B.C. – The Quick Story:

Canada’s Women’s National Team mounted an exciting comeback attempt in the gold medal game of the 2025 Canada Cup, but ultimately came up just short in a 7–5 loss to Triple Crown Colorado. Trailing 6–0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, Canada came alive with a five-run inning to pull within one, but couldn’t complete the rally despite pressure-filled moments in the sixth and seventh innings.

Key Moment:

Triple Crown Colorado did all their damage via the long ball, hitting a total of six home runs. Canada’s turning point came in the bottom of the fifth when Natalie Wideman started the rally with a two out single, Larissa Franklin followed with a single and Erika Polidori would drive in Wideman. CC Wong then stepped up and launched a three-run home run to center field, instantly putting Canada back in the game. Kianna Jones kept the momentum going with a solo shot of her own, bringing Canada within one. Despite opportunities in the final innings, Canada couldn’t push across the tying runs.

Notes:

  • CC Wong hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning.
  • Kianna Jones went 2-for-4 with a solo homer.
  • Natalie Wideman went 2-for-3 and scored a run.

In the Circle:

  • Morgan Rackel started the game, going 1.0 inning and allowing 3 runs on 4 hits.
  • Annabel Teperson pitched 2.1 innings in relief, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 1.
  • Dawn Bodrug closed out the final 3.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 6.

Box Score: TC Colorado 7 vs. Canada 5
