WCL Names 2025 U20 Pan-American Championships Team

OTTAWA —  Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is pleased to announce the athletes, coaches and support staff that will represent Canada at the 2025 U20 Pan-American (Pan-Am) Championships, July 10-12 in Lima, Peru.

“WCL is looking forward to seeing our U20 national wrestlers hit the mats in Lima. We have a mix of experience on the team with some wrestlers returning to the U20 Pan-Ams or having competed previously at the U17 Pan-Ams, in addition to others stepping onto the international stage for the first time. This tournament is a stepping stone for the World Championships taking place later this summer and we can’t wait to see how our competitors match up against the best in the Pan-Ams and the world.” said Chris Woodcroft, WCL High Performance Director.

This year’s team has many athletes who have not only competed on that international stage but have already made a name for themselves. On the women’s side, one competitor who comes in with momentum is Beaumont, Alberta’s Lene-Marie McCrackin. McCrackin, from Burnaby Mountain WC, already has a gold medal to her name in 2025, winning the U23 Pan-Am Championship in April.

Also on the women’s side, is returning silver medalist, Abbotsford, British Columbia’s Rupinder Johal. In addition to her U20 silver in 2024, Johal, Burnaby Mountain WC, is a past gold medalist at the U17 Pan-Ams, having won in 2022.

As for the men, Abbotsford’s Michaeljeet Grewal will look to keep his Pan-Am gold medal streak going. The Burnaby Mountain WC member has won gold the past two years at the U17 Pan-Ams and will look to replicate the feet at the U20 level.

Another name to watch among the men will be fellow Abbotsford native and Burnaby Mountain WC member, Tejvir Dhinsa. Dhinsa captured silver at the 2024 U20 Pan-Ams and a bronze at the 2022 U17 Pan-Ams.
