Team Canada Completes the Opening Round Undefeated at XI Pan American Women’s Championship

Montería, Colombia – The Quick Story:  

Team Canada picked up their fourth straight win at the XI Pan American Women’s Championship, shutting out Peru 8–0 in five innings. After scratching across single runs in the second and third innings, Canada broke the game open in the fourth with six runs on five hits. The pitching duo of Morgan Rackel and Annabel Teperson held Peru to just one hit while striking out six. 

Key Moment: 

With a 2-0 lead heading into the fourth, Canada’s bats came alive. A string of hits from Grace MessmerJanet LeungNatalie Wideman, and Logan Forman produced six runs. Forman’s two-run triple to center field was the exclamation point of the inning. 

Notes: 

  • Logan Forman went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. 
  • Natalie Wideman doubled and drove in two runs, reaching base twice. 
  • Emma Entzminger tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Erika Polidori. 
  • Kianna Jones collected two hits and drove in a run. 
  • Grace Messmer also went 2-for-3 and scored twice. 
  • Morgan Rackel earned the win, throwing 4.0 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. 
  • Annabel Teperson closed out the game with a clean fifth inning, striking out two to preserve the shutout. 

Box Score: Canada 8 vs. Peru 0 

Team Canada finished first in their group and will move on to the Super Round starting tomorrow June 30.
