Nine Canadians set to compete at the next Sailing Grand Slam Series event in Germany

The 2025 Kiel Week competition will be held June 21-25 in Kiel, Germany

Kingston, June 19, 2025 – A total of nine Canadian sailors will take part in the third event of the 2025 Sailing Grand Slam Series, Kiel Week, to be held June 21-25 in Kiel, GER.

Amongst the nine Canadians, Paris 2024 Olympians Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance from Chester, N.S., will be in action in the 49erFX class, as will James Juhasz from Oakville, ON, in ILCA 7, Annie Balasubramanian from Toronto in ILCA 6, and two-time Olympian Will Jones from Burlington, ON, in 49er with his new teammate Arie Moffat from Kingston, ON.

Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance will be looking to earn a podium result for a third consecutive event this year.

They won the gold medal earlier this month at the 2025 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 European Championships, in addition to taking bronze in April at the second Sailing Grand Slam Series event of the season, French Olympic Week.

“We are excited to start the 2025 Kiel Week event on Saturday,” said Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance. “It looks like we’re in for some champagne racing conditions. We’ve raced here a few times before and we’re excited to do it again – just trying to chip away at some pieces as we prepare for the Worlds later this year in Sardinia. Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters for making all of this possible!”
