EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Canada Basketball Women’s High Performance (WHP) program is seeking Expressions of Interest from Video Coordinator/Performance Analyst practitioners who are interested in delivering service on behalf of Canada Basketball on a contract basis. The position is casual. There is no obligation for Canada Basketball to provide the contractor with work.

Successful candidates will be added to the Canada Basketball Women’s High Performance Integrated Support Team Pool and approached with contract opportunities as they become available. Canada Basketball is seeking certified professionals with expertise in video and performance analysis.

OVERVIEW

The Women’s High Performance (WHP) program delivers high performance programming for a variety of national team age groups including U13/14 (Junior Academy), U16/17, U18/19, U23, and Senior teams. We are seeking to expand our integrated support team pool with qualified Video Coordinators/Performance Analysts to support potential domestic and international training camps, competitions, and provide remote/virtual support. This role will involve both 3×3 and 5v5 basketball.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Provide comprehensive video and performance analysis support to targeted athletes and teams during training camps, competitions, and through remote/virtual work, as required.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge in the areas of video capture, coding, statistical analysis, and performance metric tracking.
  • Work as a Video Coordinator/Performance Analyst within Canada Basketball’s multi-disciplinary Integrated Support Team (IST), supporting athletes’ daily training environment and coaching staff.
  • Communicate with Canada Basketball Director, High Performance / Sport Science, and relevant coaching leads regarding analysis, scouting reports, and inter-disciplinary projects as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver video and performance analysis support to Canada Basketball athletes and/or teams to which you are assigned, as required.
  • Capture, organize, and code game and practice footage for individual player and team analysis.
  • Develop and deliver scouting reports on opposing teams and players.
  • Deliver education sessions to athletes and coaches in the areas related to video analysis, performance trends, and scouting insights.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver established performance analysis protocols, including data entry and reporting of results.
  • Work closely with Canada Basketball IST to uphold standards of practice related to performance analysis, data management, and monitoring of athlete and team progress.
  • Collaborate as part of an Integrated Support Team, communicating effectively with coaches and other IST members to provide an integrated approach to optimizing/enhancing athlete health and performance.
  • Participate in meetings with IST, coaching staff, athletes, and other stakeholders, as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of work conducted and analysis provided.
  • Adhere to any professional codes of conduct appropriate to your profession or other codes of conduct that might be deemed applicable in general to sport science and sport medicine practitioners.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to personal professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science, Kinesiology, Data Analytics, or a related field (graduate level preferred), or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
  • Valid SafeSport training.
  • Must hold professional liability insurance (if applicable for a contractor role).

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum 2 years working in a high-performance sport setting, preferably basketball.
  • Demonstrated experience in video capture, coding, and performance analysis, including strong technical proficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., Synergy Sports, Sportscode, Hudl, Wyscout, Krossover).
  • Ability to break down film, identify tactical and technical insights, and present data effectively to coaches and athletes.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and statistical analysis in a sport context.
  • Experience with both 3×3 and 5v5 basketball is considered a significant asset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex processes and insights clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent problem-solving, adaptability, and the ability to execute these skills under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary integrated support team.
  • Strong data organization, management, and analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Sport System.
