2019 Yonex U23/Junior National Championships

Manitoba Badminton Association – A week from now, Canada’s top Junior and U23 athletes will descend on the Manitoba capital to compete for the title of Top Player in Canada. From May 20th-25th, the 2019 Yonex U23/Junior National Championships will take place at the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre (145 Pacific Avenue).

With nearly 300 athletes attending, this will be one of the largest tournaments Badminton Manitoba has ever hosted. With twelve courts for matches and plenty of space for spectators, we are looking forward to hosting one of the best national tournaments of the season!

There will be a press conference on Sunday, May 19th from 5:30-6:30pm in the Gymnasium Lounge (L2) at the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre. Ryan Giesbrecht, Executive Director, will speak on behalf of Badminton Manitoba, as will Barrington Nichols, Badminton Manitoba President, and Mike Luck from Badminton Canada. While competition doesn’t start until Monday, May 20th, the press conference will provide media with an opportunity to meet the tournament’s key figures, as well as Manitoba favourites Thien Vo, Arnish Patel, Kieran Deraj, and Felix Tessier. Seeded athletes from other provinces will also be in attendance.
