National Champions Crowned at Racquetball Canada’s National Championships

BURLINGTON, ON (May 26, 2025) – Racquetball Canada’s 2025 National Championships wrapped up an exciting and action-packed week of competition at the Cedar Springs Racquet Health and Sports Club in Burlington, Ontario. From May 18 to 24, Canada’s top athletes battled for national titles in divisions ranging from junior to elite, with new champions emerging and returning champions defending their crowns.

In the Women’s Open Singles division, Montréal’s Frédérique Lambert claimed her seventh national title, delivering a commanding performance in the final against Juliette Parent (Saint-Jacques, QC) with scores of 13-11, 11-7, 11-4. Michèle Morissette (Baie-Comeau, QC) joined Lambert on the podium with a bronze medal win over Cher Allen (Winnipeg, MB) with scores of 11-2, 11-4, 11-3. 

Lambert and Morissette also dominated in Women’s Open Doubles, capturing their fourth consecutive national title as a team. The silver medal in the round-robin division was won by Chloé Jauvin (Terrebonne, QC) and Ofelia Wilscam Repentigny, QC), and the team of Juliette Parent (Saint Jacques, QC) and Eva Pocsai (New Hamburg, ON) won bronze.

In the Men’s Open Singles division, Coby Iwaasa (Lethbridge, AB) returned to the top of the podium for the first time since 2015, defeating six-time defending champion Samuel Murray (St-Hubert, QC) in four games: 11-6, 3-11, 11-4, 11-4. Trevor Webb (Kitchener, ON) earned bronze with a victory over Kurtis Cullen (Brandon, MB): 11-4, 13-11, 9-11, 11-7.

Cullen and Iwaasa also stood atop the podium in Men’s Open Doubles, clinching gold in a four-game match against rising athletes Leyton Gouldie (Brandon, MB) and Asher Pocsai (New Hamburg, ON): 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-5. Francis and Raphaël Guillemette (Saint-Antoine-Sur-Richelieu, QC), competing together for the first time, won bronze.

The tournament also featured a full slate of junior and masters divisions, showcasing the next generation of racquetball talent and a deep pool of long-time players. Based on singles results, the following athletes have qualified for Canada’s Junior National Team and earned the opportunity to represent Canada at the 2025 IRF World Junior Championships:
