O’Shaughnessy paces Crashers on Day 1 of CWBL Final

(MONTREAL, Que.) – – Desmond O’Shaughnessy opened the 2025 CWBL Final with a stellar performance, leading the Crashers to a 42-39 victory over Centre d’integration a la vie active 2 (CIVA 2) on Thursday night at Centre Pierre-Charbonneau.

O’Shaughnessy, named tournament MVP at the Junior East Championship last weekend, paced the Crashers with a game-high 23 points.

“It’s always great to come off something like that. I feel great entering this tournament. I’m looking forward to the rest of the weekend,” said O’Shaughnessy. “Winning the opening game always sets the tone for the rest of the tournament.”

In the other early game, Logan Aalders scored 25 points, and Austin McClellan chipped in 16 as New Brunswick topped the Vikings du Centre de Quebec.

The Bulldogs de Quebec edged Saskatchewan 2 46-41– Alain Tremblay led the way with 29 points.

Aigles de Valleyfield concluded the evening with a dominant 53-32 victory over the Edmonton Inferno – Paralympian Sandrine Berube led the way with 18 points.

The action resumes Friday morning at 8 a.m. EDT with Division 2 matchups, as 46 North faces off against the Crashers, while the Vikings du Centre de Quebec take on the Calgary Rollers.

All games will be streamed live on the WBC YouTube channel.

Centre Pierre-Charbonneau is hosting one of Canada’s largest wheelchair basketball showcases. Sixteen club teams from across the country are competing in two divisions at the 2025 CWBL Final.

Among the athletes on the court are former and current National Team players, including several who are set to represent Canada at the 2025 IWBF Men’s U23 World Championship in São Paulo, BRA (June 12-20, 2025), as well as the 2025 Americas Cup.

This event is governed by Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) and presented by Parasports Quebec.
