CAAWS Celebrates a Monumental Year with 2018-2019 Report

CAAWS – (Toronto, Ontario – August 22, 2018) The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) is proud to announce the release of Raising the Bar, the organization’s Impact Report for 2018-2019.

The last year has been one of the most significant periods of growth in the organization’s 39-year history and one of the most productive in recent memory for gender equity in sport, thanks to renewed commitments from both Sport Canada and sport organizations and leaders across the country.

“We believe that by empowering women and girls we can transform our sport system and our society for the better,” said Nathalie Cook, Chair of the CAAWS Board of Directors. “This report reflects real progress towards achieving that mission and a continued commitment to ensuring our work results in meaningful change.”

“We’re motivated not only by the impact of our work in the last year but also by the continued energy and momentum that’s moving through the entire sport system,” said Allison Sandmeyer-Graves, CEO of CAAWS. “This is a very exciting time for women and girls in sport, and we’re dedicated to creating sustainable change that will enhance their experiences for years to come.”

Read the report to see highlights from our year, including an historic $3M investment, our new sport leadership pilot program for girls, and an appearance on Hockey Night in Canada.
