New year, new look for the national Sport Information Resource Centre

Ottawa (January 15, 2025) – The Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) is pleased to share that Canada’s national sport resource centre, serving Canadians for more than 50 years, has launched a new website, with the latest accessibility features, to best showcase the leading research, resources, and careers in Canadian sport.

SIRC empowers sport organizations and individuals to improve the quality of sport and physical activity experiences by creating, curating and sharing credible evidence-based information using relevant, engaging and innovative communication approaches. The new website has streamlined how key resources and the latest research are shared to ensure sport leaders can easily access the information to support their decision-making.

To do so, SIRC engaged several subject matter experts, and those with lived experiences from across Canada, to curate the best-in-class resources and share the latest research clearly and concisely. Within 8 key themes, SIRC and the network of experts took a deep dive into 18 topics to bring to light the most important messages and information – including a look at the foundations of the Canadian sport landscape. The core themes include:

“The SIRC team has worked incredibly hard to bring the new website to life. Partnering with the experts to make the most of our resources has been invaluable,” shared Debra Gassewitz, SIRC’s President and CEO. “Heading into 2025, SIRC is embracing the critical role we play in the Canadian sport sector as the national resource centre in Canada.”

To bring this vision to life, SIRC partnered together with WebMarketers, an Ottawa-based digital design agency, to develop the new website. This partnership is highlighted by a shared belief in the power of sport and a mutual commitment to breathing new life into the SIRC website.

This project was funded in part by the Government of Canada.
