In alignment with Canada Soccer’s National & Regional Excel Program, Ontario Soccer is making changes to the programming offered to Ontario’s most talented players. These positions will provide coaching leadership to Ontario’s top youth male and female players within Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel Program.
Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel Program detects young talent throughout the Province with the aid of Ontario Soccer Technical Staff, OPDL Technical Staff, District & Club Technical Leads, and Club Coaches to provide high level training and competition in preparation for Regional and National Excel Programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- To serve as a Provincial Xcel goalkeeper coach incorporating the Ontario Soccer’s player priority principles, curriculum and adhere to the talented player development plan: March – May 2025;
- Attend all Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Staff meetings (orientation, administrative and technical);
- Assist the Head Coach in the planning, management and delivery of the campaign plan;
- Act and deliver specific coaching responsibilities as outlined by the head coach;
- Plan and conduct team training sessions, individual player sessions, recovery sessions, small team training sessions as required;
- In conjunction with the Head Coach, plan or conduct individual and team debriefing sessions post training and game (verbal and visual);
- In consultation with the Head Coach organize or conduct pre-game, half-time and substitute warm-ups, and manage in-game substitutions;
- Manage game video, motivational film, match statistics and post-game video analysis if required by head coach;
- In competition, communicate daily itinerary to players and scout opposition when required.
- Support Athletic Therapist and in any post-game player recovery protocols;
- Support Team Manager with organization and kit and laundry related activities as required;
- Ensure training equipment well maintained and ready for practice and matches;
- In conjunction with the Team Manager plan and organize player responsibilities with returning and picking up training kit and game uniforms;
- Complete Ontario Soccer Player Development Program surveys;
- Communicate with National Teams Coaching Staff if required.

Qualifications and Required Skill Sets:
- Meets Ontario Soccer’s Safe Sport requirements
- Canada Soccer National ‘C’ Diploma or Equivalent;
- Ontario Soccer Goalkeeper Diploma Course or Equivalent;
- Goalkeeper coaching experience at the youth age preferably the applicable age group(s);
- Good teaching, leadership, organization and communication skills;
- Very strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Understanding and experience of soccer team management;
- Understanding of team dynamics and being a team player;
- Well-developed time management skills.

- March-April – Minimum 1 Provincial Screening Competition Weekend (U14, U15, U16, U17)
