Main activities and responsibilities

Reporting organizationally to the Senior Manager Transport in Canada, the Venue Transport Manager will be a key member of the FIFA26 Transport team, and work in close collaboration with the FIFA26 Operational Services team. The Venue Transport Manager is responsible for the conceptual and operational planning as well as overseeing all transportation operations rendered to FIFA Client Groups on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 Venues, Sites and Facilities (including but not limited to training sites, stadiums, hotels, etc.). This position is also responsible to build, train and motivate the venue operations team of paid staff, contractors and volunteers, during the FWC 2026 project. The successful candidate is expected to be a self-starter and multitasker who works well under pressure and follows through on tasks.

The main responsibilities and oversights of the Venue Transport Manager for the FIFA World Cup 26 include:

  • Support management in ensuring cost effective and efficient venue transport operations for FIFA Client Groups and their transport to stadiums as well as other official FIFA venues including (PMA’s, Match Officials, FIFA Delegates, Workforce, Airport Arrivals & Departures, Commercial Affiliates, Hospitality, Fleets, and Venue Parking).
  • Support in the development of transport plans for FIFA Client Groups for venues, sites and facilities in Canadian Host Cities.
  • Perform traffic analysis of operations and ensure proposed plans are tested.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to obtain appropriate agreements and approvals.
  • Coordinate with all FIFA26 functional areas, stakeholders and transport systems to ensure plans are developed to fit with overall transport proposals.
  • Work closely with Canadian Host City teams to coordinate FIFA Client Group transport provisions and access to/from stadium and venues.
  • Collaborate with Host Cities in Canada on the development of Local Area Traffic Management Plans.
  • Work closely with Canada’s Security Team to ensure transport plans are coordinated with the security provisions.
  • Prepare reports on key performance indicators to ensure success of transport operations.
  • Prepare risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in walk through, testing and readiness exercise plans.
  • Support in the delivery of transport for all test events, if required, prior to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
  • Assist with implementing transport plans for FIFA Client Groups at venues, sites and facilities in Canada.
  • Liaise extensively with Canada and US operations staff as well as fleet operations staff to ensure a successful transportation operation.
  • Work with selected suppliers/contractors within the various parking/traffic management/load zone locations.
  • Management of transport information desks and supervising all transport volunteer and staff needs on site.
  • Manage VAPP boards and transport load zones at each venue.
  • Manage the placement, control and storage of transport related FF&E.
  • Support on preparing mobility planning for Canada including transport movement outside FIFA venue perimeter for other FIFA client groups –workforce, local traffic and Host City transport stakeholders.
  • May be required to work in Toronto or Vancouver close to tournament time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transport, Civil Engineering, Project management, Event Management, Major Sport events or a combination of education and experience relating to position.
  • Master’s Degree is an additional asset.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years Transport work experience: ideally within the football, sport, or event industry or 3 years of experience as a Venue Transport Manager.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from support staff, managers, and clients.
  • Must be motivated, capable of working independently, and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with public and private sector partners in a collaborative environment and ability to build strong partnerships.
  • Knowledge of transit operations involved in moving Client Groups by vehicles, including city layout.
  • Previous event experience working in Canada., with experience in Vancouver and/or Toronto an asset.

Languages

  • Fluent in English. French proficiency is a plus

Technology

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools
