Strength and Conditioning Coach – Full time
The Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic (CSI Atlantic) in partnership with The Halifax Tides is looking for a full time Strength & Conditioning Coach. This position will operate within The Tides Integrated Support Team (IST) and coaching staff. This position is based out of Halifax and may involve some travel.
The CSI Atlantic develops partnerships and delivers programs that help to grow high performance sport in Atlantic Canada at the community, provincial, university, and national levels. We provide performance and life services to athletes along with employment and educational opportunities for coaches.
The Halifax Tides Football Club, a founding member of the Northern Super League (NSL), Canada’s first Professional Women’s Soccer League. The club’s mission is to foster sports enjoyment and empower future female leaders, supported wholeheartedly by our East Coast community. Together, we champion women’s sports and create opportunities for athletes, our city, and our nation, rooted in collaboration and camaraderie.

Description of Employment
Job Title: Strength & Conditioning Coach (S&C)
Employment Status: Full time (1.0 FTE, 35 hrs/wk) with benefits
Working Locations: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Assets:
Essential Skills/Traits:
- Masters degree (MSc, MKin) in Strength & Conditioning or equivalent (e.g. Sport science, Human movement, with a focus in sport)
- NSCA – Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of full time experience and a track record of impactful S&C coaching in a high performance sport setting (Ideally Soccer).
- Track record of leadership within a multidisciplinary team and of working collaboratively with coaches to plan and achieve performance objectives
- CPR First Aid
- Experience working in a professional women’s sporting environment.
- Experience using sport performance technology (e.g. Catapult or similar)
- Sport Scientist Canada High Performance Certification (HPC) or equivalent
Technical:
- Comprehensive ability to plan, program, deliver and evaluate individualized and periodized S&C programming
- Comprehensive ability to effectively collaborate within a multidisciplinary team on specific initiatives (e.g. return to play)
- Coaching skills that deliver progress for athletes of different ages and stages of development
- Familiarity with a range of testing equipment and technology (hardware and software)
- Project management skills

Role Highlights (Job Components)
The Tides FC (80%)
- Work collaboratively with coaches and IST to deliver on program priorities.
- Identify performance indicators that inform your programming and allow you to execute high quality S&C sessions for all players.
- Operate as the lead of the Integrated Support Team, ensuring the multidisciplinary team works in a collaborative manner to achieve the agreed to objectives.
- In collaboration with the IST, synthesize the available information to provide actionable insights on player training loads while maximizing the health, longevity and availability of the players
- Availability to travel and work non-traditional hours
CSI Atlantic (20%)
- Assist the ongoing training of provincial and national team athletes
- Work collaboratively within each sport’s integrated support team
- Contribute to a community of practice among the local, provincial and national network of service providers
The salary range for this position is between $70,000 – $80,000
