NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour

Oct. 05, 2024: Canadian teams won silver and bronze on Friday at the fifth stop of the 2024 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour held at Los Corales beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

In the women’s final, USA’s Xolani Hode and Alexis Durish won gold over Amy Ozee and Kaylee Glagau 2-0 (21-7, 21-16) earning Canada the silver medal.

Americans Mariah Whalen/Molly Phillips took bronze, defeating T’ara Austin/Taylor Buckner of the Virgin Islands 2-0 (21-6, 21-13). Fifth place went to Sophia Hladyniuk/Abbey Thorup of Canada who beat Dominicans Darlenys Olivo/Crismil Paniagua 2-0 (21-8, 21-13).

The men’s bronze medal went to the Canadian pair of Tynan Gannett/Rouzbeh Rahnavard who defeated Garrett Bucklin/William Clements (ISV) 2-0 (21-12, 21-11). Cubans Damián Gómez and Kens Veranes beat the Dominican Republic duo of Hayerlin De Jesús/Rolvin Maldonado 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) winning the men’s gold medal.

Canada’s Martin Licht/Robert Kemp won their final match over Jesario Ebanks/Sean Tucker of Cayman Islands 2-0 (21-7, 21-12) for seventh place.

Beach Volleyball World Pro Tour

Coming up Oct. 16  to 20 is an Elite16 in João Pessoa, Brazil, featuring Canadian entries including Olympians Heather Bansley, Sophie Bukovec and Sam Schachter.
