Canadian Blind Hockey Launches the Hockey Season with 6 New Blind Hockey programs

Children, youth and adults who blind or partially sighted can try the rapidly growing Para Sport of Blind Hockey across Canada.

Canadian Blind Hockey is thrilled to announce the Blind Hockey season has officially launched and includes 6 new Blind Hockey programs across Canada for the 2024-2025 season! Ottawa Adults, London all ages, Vancouver Jr. Eclipse, Montreal Jr. Hiboux, Regina all ages and Winnipeg all ages will all receive new Blind Hockey teams this year, with a focus on getting people who are blind or partially sighted off the bench and on to the ice.

Canadian Blind Hockey’s programming spans across Canada and supports children, youth and adults who are blind or partially sighted with skill and on-ice development as they learn to play our nation’s most beloved sport.

“To grow Blind Hockey programs by 40% in one year is an ambitious undertaking, but it needed to be done,” explains Luca DeMontis, Program Director. “The game is growing fast at the recreational level, and we are having more demand for international growth at the competitive level. We invite anyone who wants to try the game to come out to a program and get on the ice, even if it’s just once. It’s fun, it’s safe and it’s a great experience both on and off the ice to be part of the community.”

Canadian Blind Hockey is proud to manage over 11 Blind Hockey programs across Canada with
another 10 Blind Hockey clubs as partners.

“We continue to break down barriers as we get more Canadians who are blind or partially sighted
playing the game,” says Matt Morrow, Executive Director, Canadian Blind Hockey. “There has been Blind Hockey in Canada for years, but since Canadian Blind Hockey launched 15 years ago, we have proudly introduced over 15 new Blind Hockey teams to Canada alone, including the 6 new for the 2024 -2025 season. Our growth is accelerating, and children and youth continue to be our largest growing demographic.”
