The Coaching Association of Canada is excited to announce the launch of a new eLearning module series, developed with funding support from Sport Canada. The Intercultural Skills in Sport eLearning modules are designed to equip coaches with the knowledge and tools to ensure all participants feel valued and respected.
Our communities are becoming more connected than ever before. Development of intercultural skills promotes inclusivity and understanding in sport, and embracing cultural diversity enriches team dynamics and enhances the overall sporting experience. All members of the sport community benefit when we create inclusive spaces for participants, coaches, and volunteers.
Throughout the three eLearning modules in the series (Defining Culture, Culture and Me, Culture and Us), coaches will learn how to move from cultural awareness toward cultural humility through reflection and concrete actions.
In this module series, coaches will:
- Gain insights into cultural humility and its role in fostering positive relationships
- Develop strategies for effective cross-cultural communication
- Learn to create inclusive sporting environments that celebrate diversity
- Enhance their ability to support and engage with participants from varying cultural backgrounds
Complementary resources and tools were developed by a project task force comprised of individuals from Canada’s National and Provincial/Territorial Sport and Multi-sport Service Organizations and the sport community. These resources are available on the Intercultural Skills in Sport Toolbox webpage.
The Intercultural Skills in Sport eLearning module series is available for free in the Locker. Each module in the series can be completed in approximately 20 minutes.
