Paris 2024 – Day Five Recap

The Canadian lightweight double sculls crew of Jenny Casson (Kingston, Ontario) and Jill Moffatt (Bethany, Ontario) brought their A-game to the Olympic B Final today. It was a gripping display of prowess between Canada and France as they charged down the 2km course neck and neck before France kicked up their sprint in the final 500m to take the win in 7:03.24. The Canadians crossed in 7:04.82, wrapping up their Olympic Regatta in 8th place overall, a personal best for the 2-time Olympic crew. Jill and Jenny finished 12th in Tokyo.

“We were really upset two days ago but we stayed true to ourselves and went out there today and we threw down,” said Casson. “Our rowing was better and we can feel proud of that race. I have never felt the nation behind me like I did yesterday. As Canadians, we are gritty, determined and we can put together a race that we are proud of.”

Jill and Jenny will be cheering on their teammates racing in the hotly contested women’s eight A Final tomorrow morning, the last day of the Olympic Regatta at Paris 2024. Be sure to tune in at 10:50am local time/4:50am EST/1:50am PST.
