The Canadians were victorious through pool play, beating teams from Switzerland, China and the U.S., en route to a perfect 3-0 record. The performance earned Melissa/Brandie a spot in Saturday’s quarterfinal, where they faced off against ninth-ranked Tina/Anastasija of Latvia.

Melissa/Brandie dropped the first set 13-21, but fought hard in the second, pushing the Latvians to extra points. In the end, the Canadians lost the second set 20-22.
